Your car is far more likely to break down and leave you stranded by the side of the road. In addition, a poorly serviced car is more likely to need serious mechanical work done. For example, not having enough oil in your car could lead to your engine seizing and needing replacing. For this reason, not having your car serviced on a regular basis is a false economy. Therefore, even in the current economic climate it does not make sense to skip services.

However, that does not mean you should not shop around when getting your car serviced. Doing so will, over the years, save you hundreds of pounds, so it makes sense.
Start by ringing around a few local garages and asking them for a quote. It is important when asking for car servicing quotes to ensure that the prices given include parts as well as labour. Take the time to make sure that you are comparing genuine like-for-like quotes that include the same list of tasks.
